From Copenhagen to the UK, the Story of STUHR®, Olsson Scandinavia’s Sister Brand
Founded by visionary hairdresser Elmer Stuhr, the Stuhr® name has been synonymous with Scandinavian hairdressing excellence since the 1950s.

Born in Denmark’s Leading Salons. Made for Everyday Catwalk Confidence.
What began as a single Copenhagen salon quickly grew into Denmark’s largest salon chain, built on Elmer Stuhr’s pioneering spirit, creativity, and uncompromising standards.
From early collaborations with industry icons like Vidal Sassoon to setting new benchmarks for Scandinavian style, Stuhr has always represented innovation, quality, and professionalism.

Founder Elmer Stuhr
In Copenhagen in the early 1950s, Elmer built a reputation through excellence in competitions, study abroad (particularly learning from leading names like Vidal Sassoon), and by bringing fresh cutting techniques into Denmark, being the first to transition from blade to scissor.
Stuhr established training (STUHR® Interschool) that helped elevate the skills of his salons and peers regionally, pushing forward education as a core value. He also anticipated the demand for professional haircare, launching a product line in the 1970s which has since matured into one of Denmark’s leading haircare portfolios with over 40 products, including Stuhr® Mild.
His salon chain remains Denmark’s largest, and the haircare formulas match the pedigree - professional, trend-aware, and rooted in decades of craft and innovation.
