The Safety of Sweet Almond Oil in Olsson Sensitive Hair Mask
INCI: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Refined Sweet Almond Oil).
Since the introduction of our new Nourishing Hair Mask, powered by RepHair® Ceramide and refined Sweet Almond Oil; there has been concern expressed about the inclusion of this ingredient, understandably from those with nut allergies.
We want to assure you that your safety is our top priority, and we have taken every measure to ensure our product is safe for everyone, including those with nut allergies.Understanding Refined Sweet Almond Oil in our Sensitive Hair Mask.
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, commonly known as Sweet Almond Oil, when refined is a natural ingredient belonging to the group G1 Vegetable Oils, according to the standards for natural ingredients in cosmetics. The refined Sweet Almond Oil used in our Nourishing Hair Mask undergoes a meticulous production and purification process to ensure it is free from allergenic proteins.
Note: While Sweet Almond Oil originates from a food source that can cause allergic reactions, research suggests that reactions are primarily caused by the proteins in the nuts.
Harnessing the Benefits of Refined Almond Oil: Allergen-Free Vegetable Oil Powered by Science.
The salon professional RepHair® Nourishing Hair Mask harnesses all the benefits of Sweet Almond Oil in a refined solution that ensures safety for individuals with nut allergies. Powered by RepHair® ceramides and nourished with refined Sweet Almond Oil to hydrate the scalp, combat dryness and bring life back to tired, damaged hair.
Compliance with Allergy Standards. Scrutinised by Allergy Experts.
Based on an independent review by both Allergy UK and Asthma Allergy Nordic, the Sweet Almond Oil is refined (protein purification) in such a way that it produces no known food allergenic potential.
For the avoidance of doubt, it’s worth noting that it remains that Almond Oil (of any kind, in its unrefined state) is not permitted for use in formulas seeking certification by Asthma Allergy Nordic and Allergy UK.
We remain the only haircare range* recommended as ‘unlikely to cause reaction’ and 'may be of benefit' by Allergy UK.
Designed by Danish haircare experts House of Scandinavian Haircare (HOSC) with an ultra-mild formula, our range exists to minimise the risk of allergies as well as helping to prevent skin and scalp irritation.
Regulatory compliance and INCI list transparency
Whilst the name of the ingredient, feels misleading; cosmetic product regulation mandates that all ingredients be listed using their International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) names. For Sweet Almond Oil, the INCI name is Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil. While this can sometimes cause confusion, it ensures transparency and compliance with international standards.
